BALVER SN100CS+
BALVER SN100CS+ is a lead-free solder alloy based on tin, copper, nickel, and germanium. It is used when a stable soldering process is required in professional electronics manufacturing, including selective, dip, and wave soldering. The alloy is a variant of SN100C, but with a higher germanium content.
What particularly characterizes SN100CS+ is the combination of a low melting point and an alloy developed for use without inert gas. It is therefore relevant in processes where work is carried out in a normal atmosphere, but where a solder composition suitable for standardized production environments is still desired. The nickel doping also contributes to an optically bright solder joint, and according to the manufacturer, the alloy has a significantly lower copper dissolution than conventional SnCu alloys.
In practice, this means that it is of interest in production settings where the solder bath needs to be predictable and where the process must not be unnecessarily sensitive. The melting range is specified with a liquidus and solidus at 227 °C, and the manufacturer's recommended operating range is 260-320 °C.
