
GW INSTEK AFG-2125
The GW INSTEK AFG-2125 is a DDS-based arbitrary waveform function generator for building and testing signals in the laboratory and in electronics production. It is used when a controlled test signal is required instead of working with a fixed, natural signal from a circuit or sensor.
It can generate sine, square, ramp/triangle, noise, and arbitrary waveforms. For sine, square, and triangle, the frequency range is from 0.1 Hz to 25 MHz, and the frequency can be set with 0.1 Hz resolution. This makes it easier to fine-tune signals when testing circuits, measuring responses, or simulating a specific signal form.
The unit has a 20 MSa/s sample rate, 10-bit amplitude resolution, and 4k-point waveform memory for arbitrary signals. This means that users can work with their own waveforms and send them out through the main output with a 50 Ω output impedance. The amplitude is specified from 1 mVpp to 5 Vpp in 50 Ω, or 2 mVpp to 10 Vpp without load.
On the front, there is a 3.5" LCD display, allowing settings and signal parameters to be read directly. There is also a USB device interface for remote control and for downloading waveform data from a PC. The modulation functions AM, FM, and FSK, as well as sweep, make it useful when the signal needs to be varied over time in a test setup.
The manufacturer's documentation also states that the AFG-2125 is supplied in the AFG-2100/2000 series, and that the manufacturer provides a datasheet and software for waveform editing on a PC.
