Balver Zinn
Balver Zinn – Soldering Materials for Modern Electronics Production
Balver Zinn is a German manufacturer of soldering materials for the electronics industry. The company, formally Balver Zinn Josef Jost GmbH & Co. KG, develops and produces solder alloys, solder wire, bar solder for wave soldering, and flux and process chemicals for professional electronics production environments.
Balver Zinn is approved according to the following standards:
ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018
In modern electronics production, material selection is closely linked to process stability, quality, and documentation. Soldering materials are directly involved in the electrical connections on PCBs, and therefore high demands are placed on alloy composition, purity, and reproducibility. Balver Zinn specializes in precisely these materials and offers solutions developed for use in hand soldering, wave soldering, selective soldering, and other industrial soldering processes.
The company works with a range of well-known and documented alloys for electronics production, including the lead-free alloy SN100C, which is widely used in the electronics industry.

Soldering Materials Developed for Stable Electronics Processes
In electronics production, stable soldering processes are crucial for product quality and reliability. Soldering materials must therefore function stably in the specific processes where they are used, while also meeting relevant standards and quality requirements.
Balver Zinn develops its products for specific applications within electronics production. This means, among other things, that the materials are designed for use in processes such as wave soldering, selective soldering, and dip soldering. At the same time, the manufacturer works with documentation and classification of materials according to relevant industry standards.
The flux and process chemistry program is marketed under the brand Cobar, which includes solutions for various electronic soldering processes.
Balver Zinn's materials are used in electronics productions where the demands for process control, traceability, and stable quality are high.
Well-Known Solder Alloys – Including SN100C®
A central part of Balver Zinn's program is solder alloys for lead-free electronics production. One of the most well-known alloys in the portfolio is SN100C®, which is a lead-free alloy based on tin and copper (SnCu0.7Ni) stabilized with nickel.
According to the manufacturer, the alloy also contains germanium, which reduces oxidation of the solder. SN100C® is used in wave soldering, selective soldering, and dip soldering in electronics production, among other applications.
Balver Zinn also offers variants of the SN100C® alloy, such as:
- SN100C® for standard wave and selective soldering
- SN100CS+ with increased germanium content
- SN100C-SEL developed for selective soldering processes
These alloys are developed to deliver stable process properties in various types of electronics production.
Why Many Electronics Manufacturers Choose Balver Zinn
Electronics manufacturers often choose soldering materials from Balver Zinn because the manufacturer focuses on stable alloys and well-documented products for industrial soldering processes.
Some of the factors typically highlighted in connection with Balver Zinn's products are:
- Documented alloys developed for specific soldering processes
- Materials for wave, selective, and hand soldering
- Classified flux products according to relevant standards
- International distribution and technical support
- A broad program of soldering materials for electronics production
These factors make Balver Zinn relevant for companies working with systematic process control and quality in electronics production.
Balver Zinn for Professional Electronics Manufacturers
Electronics production is constantly evolving with higher component density, greater demands for operational reliability, and increased focus on documentation in production processes. In this context, material selection plays an important role.
Balver Zinn develops soldering materials for use in precisely these production environments, where stability, documentation, and reproducible processes are important parameters.
At HIN A/S, electronics manufacturers can access soldering materials from Balver Zinn, as well as advice on material selection for various soldering processes. This allows companies to consolidate both materials and technical advice with one partner for their electronics production.
